Shortly after I posted about the Knight Bus appearing on the Coming Soon page, Metal Earth sent out their monthly newsletter with a sneak peek at an upcoming model, the Black Hawk helicopter. And I completely forgot to post anything about it. But then I check things today, and they’ve added an F-14 Tomcat to the coming soon page, which reminded me that I forgot to share about the Black Hawk. So… a little late, but here we are!
As you can see, we still have only the sneak peek photo of the Black Hawk, but we’ve got the full 5-photo array that is common to the Coming Soon listings. And I’d like to point out that the 5 photos show it with both the wings out and wings back configuration. If you zoom in for a close look, you can see that the wings appear to have a pivot hole in the front, with a square “pin” passing through it. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that the wing position is dynamic, as opposed to a choice of how to build it. Very cool! I also like the translucent bluish haze paint job on the model. Very classy.
I would update my checklist with these models, but I’m having some maintenance problems with my checklists which I need to work on fixing. Hopefully that will be resolved soon and I can update the checklists with the results of the last couple of months of new models.

I love the helicopter models. The Tomcat looks great but when I see a plane all I can think is another nose cone and canopy frame to mangle. Hopefully it is a bit larger than the the other fighters I built.
I hear that! The planes definitely have some of the tighter tolerances on both cones and delicate frames. I wonder if that is why they intimidate me. But those swiveling wings are enticing…
Someone call Kenny Loggins cuz we’re heading to the Danga Zone. Man, they seem to be all in on Top Gun!! First the motorcycle now this! Maybe next up we’ll get aviators and dog tags, jk, but I’d buy it.
I am embarrassed to admit that I did not make the connection myself, but caught on once people started reacting as such elsewhere. Not enough sleep, and too many models to build (and buy)…
